Online PR dan Persaingan Global

ABSTRAKSI
Seorang Public Relations dituntut dapat menjadi mediator, kreator, konseptor sekaligus komunikator, karenanya ia harus dapat mengoptimalkan dan memberdayakan apa yang ada dan berkembang di dalam masyarakat. Karena itu pula ia tidak boleh kaku dan menolak teknologi khususnya di bidang komunikasi dan informasi dalam tujuan mencapai tujuannya. Public Relations menghubungkan kepentingan organisasi dengan publiknya, sehingga ia harus dapat menggali dan mengenali informasi sebanyak-banyaknya tentang publiknya, apakah itu minat, kebutuhan, keluhan dan lain-lain yang berkaitan dengan publik sasarannya. Public Relations dituntut mengadakan komunikasi yang efektif, yaitu sebuah komunikasi yang berorientasi kepada komunikan atau publiknya.
Esensi dari Public Relations dalam menyampaikan informasi dapat diimbangi oleh esensi dari Online Public Relations yaitu percepatan informasi. Dunia kini cenderung memilih media online sebagai media komunikasi, termasuk Public Relations. Kegiatan-kegiatan komunikasi antar manusia yang dilakukan Public Relations, langsung (direct communication) maupun tidak langsung (indirect communication), memang hendaknya mulai mempertimbangkan penggunaan media online di dalam menyampaikan pesan komunikasinya.
Ada berbagai keuntungan yang dapat diperoleh dari penggunaan media online. Begitu banyak informasi yang didapatkan dan disebarluaskan melalui media online baik untuk kepentingan publik internal maupun ekstenal. Berbagai organisasi profit dan non profit telah menuai banyak manfaat dari penggunaan media online. Berbagai kegiatan Online Public Relations telah memberikan mereka lebih banyak kesempatan mengenali publiknya, kompetitor, kecendrungan pasar, isu-isu global, posisi perusahaan, dan banyak keuntungan lainnya.
BAB I
LATAR BELAKANG
Sejak tahun 1990-an, media online muncul menjadi media baru yang sangat kuat di dunia. Internet telah hampir menjadi sinonim dari sebuah konsep media baru saat ini. Perusahaan-perusahaan berlomba-lomba memajang produk dan jasanya di situs internet. Ribuan perusahaan pemula menempatkan diri mereka di Banner Ads, sebuah iklan kecil di halaman situs. Mereka memajang produk dan jasa mereka, dari mulai industri besar hingga industri rumah tangga, dari produk teknologi komputer Hewlett-Packard hingga Bika Ambon Medan. Stasiun-stasiun penyiaran menampilkan berita dan feature-nya dalam berbagai format video di situs internet. Hampir semua surat kabar, majalah dan jurnal-jurnal telah merangkul media online dalam menarik perhatian dunia untuk melirik dan bergantung kepada sajian informasi yang mereka letakkan di situs sebagaimana berita-berita cetakan terkini dimuat.
Internet menghubungkan banyak komputer di seluruh dunia sehingga mereka bisa saling bertukar pesan satu sama lain dan berbagi akses ke data yang ada di komputer masing-masing. Lebih jauh lagi, dengan sifat alamiah internet yaitu interaktif, akan mendorong banyak lingkungan kerja terkolaborasi. Komunikasi melalui internet yang interaktif mengundang rasa ingin tahu partisipan selayaknya email yang ditujukan secara pribadi, e-newsletter, ruang-ruang obrolan/chat, berita online dan lainnya. Situs, bagian dari internet yang kaya akan grafik-grafik, memberi kesempatan kepada pemakai untuk leluasa berpetualang diantara halaman situs dengan memilih kata kunci atau simbol grafis. Banyak halaman-halaman situs yang menyediakan audio dan video sebaik teks dan grafis, dengan demikian menunjukkan konvergensi dari media massa lama dan media komputer baru. Internet dengan demikian adalah sebuah model komunikasi masa depan: sebuah jaringan komputer kecepatan tinggi yang melaluinya kita dapat menyaksikan cerita, menonton video, mendengar musik, dan bercakap-cakap dengan keluarga, teman, dan rekan kerja dengan nyaman dan lainnya.
Internet, sebagaimana media lainnya, memiliki potensi keuntungan dan kelemahan dalam penggunaannya. Keuntungan dan kelemahan internet antara lain ditunjukkan dalam tabel berikut.

BAB II
ONLINE PUBLIC RELATIONS
Esensi dari Public Relations adalah menyampaikan informasi dan esensi dari Online Public Relations adalah percepatan informasi. Beberapa hasil riset menunjukkan beberapa hal yang terjadi di perusahaan berkaitan dengan adanya penggunaan media online/internet di operasional perusahaan. Hasil riset MCI Communication Corporation yang dipimpin oleh The Institute for Public Relations, menyebutkan antara lain:
1. Ada banyak pemanfaatan internet yang benar di dalam perusahaan antara lain untuk kepentingan marketing, perekrutan pegawai, hubungan finansial, dan riset
2. Internet, termasuk intranet dan eksternet, mampu mengubah bagaimana sumber-sumber komunikasi/PR menyebar di perusahaan
3. Internet telah mengubah cara banyak perusahaan dalam menangani kontak pers dan kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan media relatios
Layanan Online Public Relations setidaknya antara lain monitor berita online, promosi secara online, analisa brand, riset, kompetitor, industri, mencari tahu posisi perusahaan, relasi media, pengembangan kerjasama dengan situs komplimentari, manajemen krisis, intranet/ekstranet, dan proses Public Relations. Dengan demikian, internet jika dimanfaatkan dengan efektif dan benar dapat menyumbangkan banyak sekali keuntungan dan kemudahan dalam persaingan global saat ini.
Dengan internet, perusahaan memiliki kemampuan berkomunikasi lebih tinggi dan memiliki nilai tambah yang membedakannya dengan perusahaan lainnya. Internet, baik intranet maupun ekstranet, merepresentasikan tampilan paradigma dan media komunikasi baru di dalam komunikasi perusahaan. Internet membuka pintu untuk komunikasi dua arah antara perusahaan dan publiknya. Public Relations yang menggunakan media online yang untuk seterusnya disebut dengan Online Public Relations, menguntungkan perusahaan dalam mencari relasi dengan customer individu dan keypersons yang secara langsung memiliki pengaruh terhadap keberlangsungan dan kesuksesan organisasi/perusahaan. Kebanyakan organisasi atau perusahaan akan memiliki beberapa kalangan publik, antara lain konsumen, staf, media, masyarakat/komunitas umum, investor/sharefolders, analis pasar, pemerintah dan lain-lain. Karena itu seorang Public Relations Officer harus mampu mengontrol semua isi pesan yang dikomunikasikan secara korporat dan memenuhi kebutuhan informasi mereka.
BAB II
MEMBERDAYAKAN KEKUATAN PR MELALUI MEDIA ONLINE
Persaingan global bukan lagi sekedar antar perusahaan, namun antara sistem sosial ekonomi. Bisnis, pemerintah, karyawan, pelanggan, dan masyarakat yang luas adalah rekan kerja perusahaan. Mereka membentuk sebuah organisme, jaringan virtual yang didalamnya setiap bagian berperan penting dalam sosial ekonomi secara keseluruhan. Pendidikan yang baik, perawatan kesehatan, distibusi pemasukan yang adil, keragaman budaya, dan suatu lingkungan yang bersih merupakan sesuatu yang esensial untuk sebuah kompetisi. Dengan singkat, ekonomi global akan didominasi oleh parner masyarakat/sosial yang bekerja sama untuk mendorong sehatnya ekonomi di dalam keseluruhan sistem.
Konsumen dan karyawan akan meningkatkan angka permintaan jika perusahaan mendukung prinsip-prinsip sosial tertentu. Misalnya seperti yang ditegaskan Spiegel Hank Johnson: “ Mengabaikan tanggungjawab kenegaraan berarti mengabaikan keuntungan hubungan mutual antara Anda dan pasar. “
Hubungan keuntungan mutual dapat diperoleh dengan baik melalui visi jangka panjang yang lama, core values, etika lingkungan dan tanggungjawab sosial ekonomi.
Menggunakan Internet sebagai Media Strategis Marketing dan Public Relations
Lebih dari 185 juta warga Amerika memiliki akses internet dan memanfaatkan situs internet untuk banyak hal, mulai dari email sampai kepada online shopping. Demikian data dari Nielson/NetRatings service. Ini merupakan lonjakan yang sangat besar dibanding dengan tahun lalu yang hanya mencapai 156 juta. Di tempat kerja, pemakaian internet naik 23% dari tahun lalu dengan jumlah karyawan lebih dari 42 juta yang memanfaatkan internet dalam bisnisnya, baik untuk riset dan perencanaan perjalanan bisnis.
Mengingat internet sebagai suatu sumber, ia dapat disesuaikan dengan kepentingan dan kebutuhan perusahaan, khususnya di dalam marketing dan Public Relations. Karena itu Public Relations sebagai sebuah fungsi yang mengatur dan mengontrol semua isi komunikasi, harus mampu menyajikan isi komunikasi di situs di internet - intranet dan ekstranet- dengan baik, karena mereka memiliki implikasi terhadap kepentingan public relations.
Fokus utama Online Public Relations adalah membidik media online, misalnya media berita tradisional yang memiliki status online yang terkenal dan publikasi berorientasi web, baik untuk kalangan konsumen maupun bisnis. Selain itu, Online Public Relations juga berfokus pada bagaimana produk atau bisnis perusahaan disebutkan di bagian artikel editorial yang ada di situs web atau mesin pencari (search engine) yang terkenal seperti Yahoo, Goggle, MSN, Alltheweb dan lain-lain. Hal ini disebabkan karena kecendrungan masyarakat yang lebih mempercayai editorial atau kata pihak lain atau dalam bentuk edukasi daripada isi iklan dan lebih menanggapi suatu artikel ketimbang iklan.
Berikut beberapa cara bagaimana perusahaan atau organisasi dapat merangkul internet sebagai sebuah alat komunikasi dan memasukkannya ke dalam strategi Marketing dan Public Relations perusahaan:
• Mengenali internet sebagai sebuah “high-speed media outlet”
Selama bertahun-tahun, Public Relations hanya mengandalkan 2 media yaitu printing/cetak dan broadcasting/penyiaran. Namun sejak tahun 1990-an, internet menjadi media ketiga, dan kini mencakup hampir melampaui kedua media sebelumnya. Bisa dikatakan semua surat kabar, majalah dan jurnal-jurnal memiliki situs dimana mereka meletakkan edisi cetakan mereka sebagaimana pemuatan berita-berita terkini. Bahkan stasiun-stasiun penyiaran menempatkan berita dan feature-nya secara segmentif dalam berbagai format video.
Sebagai tambahan, layanan jaringan internet menawarkan berita-berita secara cepat, membuat internet sebagai sumber paling update (terkini) dunia, nasional, bisnis, finansial dan lain-lain. Dengan cakupan internet sebagai media Public Relations ketiga, seorang Public Relations Officer dapat meningkatkan jangkauan medianya dan menciptakan profile yang lebih tinggi kepada perusahaannya.
• Menggunakan layanan jaringan internet untuk mendapatkan pemberitaan press release yang lebih luas
Melalui sebuah layanan jaringan internet seperti BusinessWire, Internet Wire, PR Newswire dan lain-lain, informasi dari perusahaan dapat diakses oleh jutaan orang di seluruh dunia yang melakukan surfing internet. Tidak peduli bagaimana seberapa hati-hati Public Relations Officer memasang releasenya, penggunaan internet perlu dipertimbangkan demi keuntungan perusahaan. Ketika memasang sebuah release di layanan jaringan internet, putuskan kemana ia akan dipasang. Layanan ini dapat mendekatkan distribusi release perusahaan dan memastikan bahwa informasi yang dikirim sampai kepada target publik.
Tambahan lagi, layanan-layanan ini memiliki kontak dengan situs-situs besar seperti AOL, Yahoo, dan MSN. Ini menjamin pemasangan release berada pada tempat yang istimewa. Meskipun ini berarti menciptakan jangkauan perusahaan yang lebih luas, namun itu juga berarti bahwa seorang Public Relations Officer harus melihat dengan hati-hati pada apa yang dikatakan di dalam release tersebut.
• Menggunakan layanan yang menyediakan kerahasiaan jangkauan perusahaan sebaik jangkauan yang diterima kompetitor di internet
Menemukan situs yang meliput press release perusahaan Anda terkadang menyulitkan Anda, baik yang telah didistribusikan melalui sebuah layanan jaringan internet atau secara in-house. Anda bisa saja mencarinya sendiri, tapi bisa makan waktu berjam-jam. Atau Anda bisa meminta orang lain melakukannya untuk Anda.
Kebanyakan layanan jaringan internet menyediakan daftar pilihan situs untuk memasang release yang khusus. Pilihan lain adalah layanan monitor internet seperti eWatch™ yang bukan hanya memberitahukan situs mana yang memasang release Anda, namun juga semua jenis peliputan berkenaan dengan perusahaan Anda di seluruh jaringan internet dunia. Misalnya, eWatch™ memberitahu Anda situs-situs berita yang menulis tentang perusahaan Anda, penulis mana yang meliput industri Anda, konsumen mana dan komunitas investor mana yang berbicara tentang perusahaan Anda, dan apa yang dikatakan kompetitor tentang perusahaan Anda.
• Menggunakan situs sebagai alat komunikasi informasi
Situs perusahaan adalah sebuah portal dunia bagi perusahaan tersebut, dan karena itu harus didesain dengan semestinya. Situs perusahaan mungkin merupakan alat marketing dan public relations terbaik yang ada saat ini. Kebanyakan reporter akan menanyakan apakah perusahaan memiliki sebuah situs dimana mereka dapat melihat berita-berita atau informasi secara cepat, berbeda dengan release yang disediakan dalam lembaran kertas yang dikirim melalui surat.
Hal yang sama berlaku juga bagi setiap orang, termasuk dari investor kepada prospek klien yang tertarik untuk mencari tahu tentang perusahaan Anda. Karenanya situs perusahaan harus menyampaikan pesan dan citra organisasi yang mempresentasikan perusahaan dengan tepat kepada dunia. Pesan dan citra perusahaan harus didesain dengan daya akses informasi yang mudah, khususnya bagi pemakai internet pemula. Situs harus berisi press kit dan press release yang baik selayaknya sebuah berita mempublikasikan perusahaan. Jangan lupa pula pentingnya informasi kontak yang dapat dihubungi. Ini penting untuk mereka yang ingin lebih mengenal atau memiliki pertanyaan sesuai dengan sistem, produk atau jasa yang disediakan perusahaan.
• Menggunakan e-newsletters sebagai alat marketing
Cara terbaru untuk menembus e-waves adalah e-newsletter. Banyak publikasi dagang, surat kabar, dan situs-situs berita menciptakan e-newsletters yang menyuplai anggotanya dengan berbagai berita terkini untuk sebuah industri yang khusus secara harian atau mingguan. Pertimbangkan bagaimana Public Relations Officer dapat menggunakan sebuah e-newsletter sebagai sebuah alat komunikasi langsung kepada target publik perusahaan. Dalam hal ini, Public Relations Officer dapat menggunakan e-newsletter untuk menginformasikan kepada konsumen perusahaan yang sudah ada, atau sebagai sebuah prospek baru tentang perkembangan perusahaan. Buatlah dalam tampilan yang menarik dan mudah bagi penerimanya untuk berkomunikasi dengan perusahaan Anda.
Selain itu Anda juga dapat memposisikan perusahaan Anda sebagai seorang ‘expert’/ahli, sebagai sebuah sumber yang mempunyai informasi yang berharga melalui e-newsletter yang menyediakan berita-berita industri terkini. Marketing dan Public Relations bukan sekedar tentang mendapatkan sebuah orderan atau citra positif. Tapi ini lebih kepada tentang mendapatkan seorang konsumen dan mempertahankannya. Hubungan dengan konsumen dapat dipelihara salah satunya adalah melalui kiriman email secara regular. Dengan email yang regular, Anda dapat membangun hubungan dan merangkul pasar dengan cerdas. Kirimkan email secara regular kepada prospek online Anda yang berisi penawaran-penawaran khusus, informasi penting, sumber-sumber dan link, update produk dan layanan, penawaran baru atau laporan dan survei gratis Anda yang mungkin mereka perlukan. Pada waktu yang sama, Anda dapat menemukan respon dari publik yang berguna untuk memperbaiki penawaran Anda, dan apa yan mereka inginkan.
• Menggunakan internet di dalam membidik komunitas yang tepat
Setiap hari jutaan orang dari seluruh dunia keluar masu ke komunitas maya (atau yang disebut newsgroup) untuk berbagi informasi topik-topik menarik. Mereka dipersatukan oleh minat yang sama. Ada banyak minat dan topik berbeda yang dapat Anda kunjungi untuk dapat berpartisipasi sesuai keinginan atau kepentingan bisnis perusahaan Anda. Newsgroup ini bersifat hirarki dan disusun berdasar pokok kategori.
Setiap newsgroup mencakup berbagai topik seperti sekolah, travel, investor, film, dan lain-lain. Begitu banyaknya newsgroup untuk banyak produk atau bisnis serta minat yang berbeda-beda memberikan peluang bagi seorang Public Relations Officer untuk membangun merek yang bagus di hadapan mereka. Selain itu seorang Public Relations Officer juga bisa mengidentifikasi kompetitor maupun tren terbaru atau industri yang bersifat complimentary dengan produk Anda, tip dan info berharga dari para pakar, dan sekaligus riset pasar.
• Menggunakan internet di dalam krisis komunikasi
Internet dapat menjadi alat yang sangat berharga di dalam penanganan sebuah krisis komunikasi. Bagaimanapun, kuncinya adalah membangun sebuah rencana sebelum krisis itu terjadi. Ciptakan lokasi pemasangan informasi dan karyawan yang mengelolanya sebagai sumber informasi yang kredibel dan resmi dimana karyawan dapat mencari tahu berita dan update bila krisis terjadi. Pers, klien dan publik lainnya juga dapat langsung mencari tahu dan menjadikannya sebagai sumber terpercaya dan resmi perusahaan dalam menyediakan informasi perusahaan berkenaan dengan krisis yang dialami.
Akhirnya seperti yang dikatakan Donald McWhorter, President Banc One, dunia saat ini berada di bisnis informasi, bukan bisnis transaksi. Karena itu, Public Relations Officer wajib memasukkan media online sebagai bagian dari sistem yang akan memberikan perusahaan semua hal tentang konsumen dan publiknya yang lain. Ini sangat penting untuk terciptanya sebuah transaksi bisnis dan antispasi di dalam persaingan global.
GLOSSARIUM
1. Media Online: Media yang mengkombinasikan teks, audio dan visual, baik yang pasif atau bergerak, di dalam sebuah jaringan elektronik global dan menjangkau pendengar dan pemirsa di dalam bentuk yang tidak konkrit.
2. Online PR: Pemanfaatan kekuatan dan fasilitas media online di dalam penyelenggaraan strategi dan rencana PR.
3. Komunitas maya “newsgroup”: Orang-orang yang tersebar di seluruh dunia yang memiliki akses dan menggunakan internet sebagai salah satu media komunikasinya dan cenderung memiliki kategori minat yang sama.
4. Email (Electronic mail): Secara tradisional bisa disamakan dengan direct mail seperti surat, namun dikirim via internet, bebas jarak, cepat dan biaya relatif sangat murah.
5. E-newsletter: Buletin yang disajikan secara online dan disebarkan kepada anggota yang terdaftar secara berkala.
6. Public Relations Officer: Praktisi atau profesional PR, menjabat sebagai staf atau pimpinan PR perusahaan, yang mengerjakan program dan strategi PR perusahaan.
7. Release: Berita yang berisi informasi yang berkenaan dengan perusahaan dan disampaikan perusahaan secara resmi/korporat.
8. Banner Ads: Sejenis iklan kecil yang ditempatkan di situs. Biasanya perusahaan mengiklankan produk atau situsnya melalui banner. Iklan Banner biasanya ditempatkan di situs yang memiliki industri yang mirip atau complimentary, atau di situs portal.
9. Intranet: Komunikasi online yang dilakukan secara internal oleh sesama internal publik perusahaan/organisasi melalui jaringan internet.
10. Ekstranet: Intranet yang terbuka bagi eksternal publik yang dipilih.

TENTANG PENULIS
Komunikasi dan Marketing menjadi dunia profesi penulis sejak menyelesaikan pendidikan Diplomanya dari Politeknik Elektro, Universitas Sumatera Utara (1997). Selama 3 tahun terakhir ini penulis memperkuat departemen Komunikasi di sebuah Lembaga Swadaya Masyarakat (LSM) setelah sebelumnya bergelut di dunia marketing di sebuah perusahaan kontraktor. Menulis Resensi Buku
Berikut tips menulis resensi buku (cuma intinya):
1. Bahas intisari buku tsb secara singkat. Kalau bisa, bandingkan dengan buku sejenis.
2. Tonjolkan beberapa bab yang dianggap sangat penting dicermati, juga secara singkat.
3. Jelaskan sedikit tentang diri/identitas penulisnya, kelebihannya apa, latar belakangnya bagaimana, dsb.
4. Berikan penilaian ttg manfaat buku tsb. Nilai juga cara penulisannya dan gaya bahasanya.
5. Ada kelebihan lain atau tidak, misalnya bagian pengantar dari ahli ttu, indeks, footnote, kepustakaan, dsb.
6. Kalau mau dikirim ke media, jangan lebih dari 2 halaman komputer. Tambahi juga dengan scanning kavernya (jangan fotokopi, harus asli).

Program Background:
Survivor of Torture Program intends to build the capacity of Local NGOs working with Torture Survivors. We intend to do this through training in organizational capacity, training in professional skills in providing psychosocial care, grants to facilitate protection and advocacy programs and networking within Indonesia and international Victims of Torture network. The program will cover: Papua, North Sumatra, Aceh and Jakarta.
Responsibilities:
* Identify potential NGO partners;
* Carry out needs assessment and strategic planning activities;
* Develop and facilitate training in all targeted areas of the program;
* Provide regular technical assistance and support to organizational providing rehabilitative services to survivors of torture;
* Manage grants selection and grants administration process;
* Assist grantees in Meeting ICMC administrative and financial requirement;
* Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the program grants;
* Maintain program data bases as required;
* Reporting and maintaining files/administrative systems;
* Interpret and or translate material between English and Bahasa Indonesia as required;
* Effective communicate with relevant NGO, International NGO, and other networks;
* Represent ICMC within its program networks and in public, as needed.
Qualification:
* University degree (Equivalent to Bachelors, preferably major: psychology, or social work);
* Training and Counseling background and strong interest in increasing training and counseling skills;
* Capable of discreet work with a large amount of confidential information;
* Experience working within NGO or community groups

Dusta dan susulannya
Tidak ada fakta yang membuktikan bahwa manusia ada yang
tidak pernah mengucapkan dusta. Dusta yang satu
mewajibkan kita mengucapkan dusta berikutnya sehingga
dusta yang kita lakukan bisa terlihat seperti bukan dusta.
Begitu seterusnya sehingga akhirnya kita akan terperangkap
dan terjebak dalam dusta-dusta yang kita ciptakan.
Bahkan jika malang melanda, kita bisa lupa pada dusta yang
pernah kita ucapkan. Makanya kalau ingin berdusta, ingatlah
selalu apa, bagaimana dan kapan dusta itu telah diucapkan,
juga kepada siapa saja dusta itu telah kita sampaikan. Maka
selamat datang segala dusta-dusta susulan. Sebaiknya kita
menjauhkan diri dan jangan cepat percaya kepada orang
yang pernah berdusta apalagi suka berdusta.
Iblis adalah raja segala pendusta. Kalau begitu sebutan
apakah yang layak disandang seorang manusia pendusta?

DUHAI TELEVISIKU, KAMU KOK GINI SIH...
Sepulang kerja biasanya saya mengisi istirahat sejenak dengan
menonton televisi. Dengan remote di tangan, saya mencoba
memilih saluran yang menarik dan ringan. Tapi jarang yang
menarik. Satu-satunya yang segar dan cukup menyenangkan
cuma sebuah sinetron tentang kehidupan rakyat kecil di sebuah
sudut kota metropoliltan, Bajaj Bajuri. Selebihnya sampai saat ini
saya masih marah, jengah dan bosan.
Menu tayangan TV kesayanganku akhir-akhir ini membosankan.
Di stasiun T ada sinetron yang mengumbar kekerasan dunia gaib.
Di stasiun S ada sinetron yang menyajikan kekejaman seorang
tante kepada seorang gadis kecil yang dipaksakan lugu
(atau bodoh?). Bahkan sekolah, yang seharusnya jeli
mempertimbangkan kualitas sumber daya guru, apalagi BP3,
dianggap terlalu bodoh untuk diperdaya oleh penyamaran si tante
jahat untuk memuluskan rencana penindasan sang tante.
Sementara di stasiun lain sedang menggelar siaran langsung
program menyanyi. Penyanyinya adalah mereka yang pernah
dimenangkan oleh produk teknologi komunikasi, pesan singkat sms.
Bukan oleh objektifitas pada substansi dasar yang diperlukan seorang
penyanyi, suara yang enak dan bagus didengar. Kayaknya semua
yang bisa bersuara sudah boleh muncul di televisi saat ini, asal
nyangkut di hati pemirsa dan punya massa. Aduh mak...
Ada pula sinetron yang penggalan kisahnya menceritakan seorang ibu
yang mempermalukan anak gadisnya di depan teman-temannya di
kampus, meneriakinya dan tanpa rasa malu menyuruh anaknya
memilih pria kaya menjadi calon suami pilihan. Wuuih, wuih,
apakah benar ini ada? Atau hanya sekedar imajinasi liar sang penulis
skenario atau memang buah trauma masa lalu sang penulis?
Aduh mak, apa pula ini.
Entah ada kaitannya atau tidak, saya pernah chatting dengan seorang
teman baru. Katanya dia banyak terlibat dalam produksi
sinetron-sinetron di Indonesia. Aku melihat namanya sering muncul di
antara deretan nama-nama orang yang terlibat dalam tim produksi di
akhir tayangan sinetron. Dia juga memakai nama samaran lain, nama
pacarnya, untuk membantu perusahaan lain menyukseskan produksi
sinetronnya. Katanya pula dia tidak mesti mengecap pendidikan yang
tinggi atau khusus di bidang perfilman untuk lolos terlibat dan berkreasi
serta membumbui cerita dalam produksi tayangan sinetron mereka
Berita lain menyebutkan, ada sinetron yang jalan ceritanya malah
dikarang (dikarang-karang) di lokasi sesaat sebelum shooting.
Apakah ada kaitannya?
Saya takut kita menjadi sangat terbiasa melahap sesuatu yang buruk.
Seorang teman pernah mengatakan sebuah kalimat yang saya rasa
ada benarnya. ”Aku mengganti speaker mobilku dengan yang lebih
baik. Aku tidak mau menjadi imun dengan suara speaker yang kurang
bagus dan kurang sensitif mengenali suara yang berkualitas.
” Aku pikir kita seharusnya begitu juga. Jangan biasakan menikmati
sesuatu yang buruk, nanti daya kecap kita melemah dan menjadi lupa
mana yang baik. Apa karena itu kita kesusahan mendefisikan kata
’pornografi’ dan ’pornoaksi’? Saya sebagai orang awam jadi
bertanya-tanya apakah tidak ada standar penayangan acara yang
menggunakan media massa seperti televisi? Saya kurang tahu juga.
Yah seperti lembaga sensor LSF begitulah, tapi bukan yang harus
selalu didikte baru ngeh lho...
Saya juga takut kalau apa yang dikatakan Ted Bundy terbukti benar.
Ted Bundy bukan seorang pakar komunikasi atau seorang peramal.
Ia cuma terpidana mati atas pembunuhan sadis yang dilakukannya
terhadap 29 wanita. Seorang pakar keluarga berkesempatan
mewawancarai Ted beberapa menit sebelum eksekusi hukuman
matinya. Ted memesankankan hal penting. ”Sesuatu sedang terjadi di
kota Anda. Kota Anda terlalu longgar. Ada banyak yang seperti saya.”
Ted Bundy terdorong berperilaku sadis karena setiap waktu disuguhi
dengan sangat bebas akan tontonan dalam berbagai variasi bentuk yang
menggambarkan kekerasan, pornografi, ketidaklogisan, dan trik-trik
jahat yang di sisi lain diklaim sebagai keberhasilan ketika pemerannya
berhasil menipu penonton dengan aktingnya. Atau sebuah kesuksesan
kameraman dan wartawan dalam menangkap dan merekam shoot-shoot
kejadian kriminalitas yang tidak selalu ada setiap hari.
Waktu demi waktu merupakan bom waktu yang seketika akan
memuntahkan kandungan kebusukan, dimatangkan oleh sajian media
yang buruk, dan dirawat oleh produk undang-undang yang tidak bergigi.
Ada berjuta-juta pasang mata lugu yang setiap waktu sedang menyerap
apapun yang disajikan televisi, baik atau buruk, sebagai ganti
ketidakhadiran orangtua yang sibuk berkarir di luar rumah. Mungkin juga
termasuk sepasang mata anak kebanggaan Anda. Ada berjuta jiwa yang
masih dalam proses belajar mengadopsi nilai-nilai kebenaran dalam hidup.
Mungkin saja termasuk cucu kesayangan Anda. Saya takut ada ratusan
bahkan ribuan Ted Bundy lain akan dieksekusi mati dalam 10 tahun
ke depan. Tolonglah bertindak.
Kita sebenarnya mampu memproduksi tayangan yang lebih baik, yang
dapat memenuhi kebutuhan akan logika, keindahan, kesantunan, dan
mengandung nilai pendidikan yang positif. Kan sayang dana yang
sangat besar dihabiskan untuk mendanai sebuah tayangan yang
tidak bermutu baik. Mendingan investasikan saja untuk membuka
ratusan wartel di tempat-tempat terpencil di pelosok Indonesia. Atau
pinjamkan saja kepada para petani tebu yang kesulitan modal untuk
merawat lahan tebu mereka di Stabat. Bapakku dan rekan-rekannya
sesama petani tebu merasa kesulitan untuk menghasilkan tebu-tebu
yang kadar gulanya cukup tinggi. Mereka kekurangan dana untuk bisa
membeli pupuk, obat hama, dan menggaji pekerja harian untuk
menyiangi tebu-tebu mereka. Atau bisa juga kepada peternak babi di
Medan. Mereka kesulitan dana untuk membeli ampas tahu dan pakan
ternak lainnya yang semakin mahal saja. Atau juga kepada nanguda-ku
di Pangururan, Samosir. Dia kesulitan membeli benih bawang merah.
Makin mahal saja katanya. Hendaklah yang melek baca
